Suite Dior is a top experience for someone who LOVES fashion and art. It’s a true fashion history lesson. You learn all about Christian Dior and how he built this glorious “house of haute couture”. I truly consider it a cultural experience and a key factor (along with FOOOOOOOD) in comprehending genuine French culture.
France has the corner on a number of things. Did you know that no matter WHERE bubbly wine is produced, it cannot be called “Champagne” unless it was produced in France’s Champagne region (east of Paris); same with Cognac. And same with Haute Couture. To better understand it, watch the movie “Mrs Harris Goes to Paris”. It’s delightful, but it really gives you the feel for what Haute Couture is all about.
The Suite Dior would be a good 1-2night option for someone staying a few days in Paris (they could be staying at an apartment or a hotel for a couple of weeks and stay at the suite for a night or two during that time). Girls trip (where the two paying the most would stay at the suite); engagement; anniversary or birthday trip; women have bought this for their husbands who love fashion and vice versa.
Recently a client arrived by herself and stayed 4 nights.
She had a fitting at the atelier (workshop where dresses worn at the Oscars for example are produced) and a photo shoot to model the dress. She’s a huge fan of fashion; for her this was a once-in-a-lifetime event.
The value is truly there: you can stay there (max 2 people) and your friends can stay at the nearby Bulgari (Italy in Paris, or the George V (one of the Paris GRANDES DAMES), or the Prince de Galles (one of the most stylish properties in the city of STYLE), or the Plaza Athenee (one of two outrageously amazing Dorchester Collection hotels), and join you for cocktails in the suite or for a dinner. Then all those friends can join you at Galerie Dior AFTER hours. They can shop at Boutique Dior AFTER hours. Frankly, it can really be a value as after hours access around the world can range from $1,000 - $50,000……..
The Suite Dior is like a chic French apartment with tasteful pieces of great art and amazing features. You’ll find a living room, dining room (for 6), and beautifully appointed bedroom and bath. From the windows you can see into the private workshop that NO ONE gets access to (but you get it if you book the Dior Suite).
I saw dresses that were worn by famous actresses at Cannes Film Festival, Oscars, etc. I saw the dress Princess Diana wore the night she danced with John Travolta. It never belonged to her—it belonged to Dior, but after she wore it that night it became a museum piece.
For genuine enthusiasts, allow 2 hours for the museum and it’s best to have a guide (mine was GREAT). And lunch at Monsieur Dior is a real treat. And guess who can set all this up for YOU???? Me……
Photos are locatable online, but not officially allowed in the suite unless you’re a guest. I’m very much into keeping secret things secret, so you won’t see photos here! But the experience would be GRAND. Cost of the suite is typically Euros 20,000 per night (more during Fashion Week).
